Under Locke Review
By Mariana Zapata
I have to give a little back story before I start my review.
MC (motorcycle club) books aren’t really my jam. I am not a fan of motorcycles in general or the crass and raunchy stigma with bikers. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with them, they are just not normally for me. Now, with that being said, I am part of a monthly book challenge that had a MC book as one of the reads. So my goal was to find a stand-alone (I didn’t want to get involved with a a series because even if I’m not loving it, I feel I need to finish reading it…I know, I’m weird) and to find one that wasn’t “heavy duty” MC. Thanks to a suggestion on one of my Facebook groups, I found the best of both worlds – Under Locke.
This was my first time reading anything from Mariana Zapata and Under Locke really impressed me. It was like an MC lite book, it had lots of steamy romance with a sprinkle of gritty bikers!
Iris needed a job. She was trying to get back on her feet and her brother set her up at a buddy’s tattoo shop. She figured she could handle it until she could no longer ignore the pull she had to the owner. Dex was not the type she dated, he was a “bad boy” and she knew she should stay away, but of course that didn’t happen. Would he be able to save her when things got tough or would he leave her like the others?
Honestly, I truly enjoyed this book and would not have given it a chance without the push of the challenge. I loved how Dex was so protective of Iris even if she annoyed the crap out of him!! There wasn’t anything he would not have done for her. I strongly suggest checking this one out especially if you are like me and don’t really care for MC books!
